Yoga and mindful practices
Teens lives are filled with choices, invited from their urges to seek new things, their desire for social engagement, increased emotional intensity, and creative exploration. Sometimes these qualities are interpreted negatively - risk taking, rejection of adults, over-impulsive reactions and simple rebellion. To embrace the upsides of qualities, teens can be provided tools such as meditation practices to help understand what is going on inside of their minds and bodies. They can embrace this energy and foster positive habits - community building, increased empathy, open minds to possibility, and enjoy life to the fullest.
Join Elisha Simpson, RCYT founder of laughing heart yoga and the Crossover Yoga Project to learn how meditation can help find ways to balance our bodies, and help stop the automatic reactions in times when we are stressed, anxious and overwhelmed. Gentle movement and various meditation practices will be introduced.
